I still don't have a gun in my home because I have young children. My neighbors do have guns...and they know how to use them. If someone can get past my neighbors to us?....no gun is going to help me. Gotta love living in WV!

I read in yesterday's Charleston Gazette that a swine flu vaccine is unlikely this year. This is going to be a very rough fall! I wish more people were prepared to be stuck at home for months. Most people I know think I'm crazy for worrying about the economy and the flu. I'm not worried. I'm prepared. I'm more concerned for the folks who don't think it's a problem. I hope they are right but it's not looking good out there right now!

If you believe all that clap-trap that comes over the TV, you will develop hyper tension and die early...
become one of the folks who don't think it's much of a problem...
You will not die before the day you are appointed to die...no one does...
Let the Karma of life soak in a little...get out and do some real stuff...
Me? I'm going fishing tomorrow at Arden...hope it rains too...the swiming should be great...

lol, I don't even have TV! I read to many newspapers!
A camp counselor at the state 4-H alpha camp tested positive for the H1N1 virus this week. The counselor was sick Monday. Positive test came back this week. I bet all those parents are flipping out when their kids get home with that note from camp!
How was the fishing? Fresh fish sound great!

Ok..here's the secret...each morning after I shower and brush my tooth...I inhale some warm tap water from the sink and blow it out 'just like an elephant...well almost...have done that for about 15 years, since a Dr. friend said he did the same trick...the chlorine is enough to render enough germs harmless..
Rarely have a cold or anything...and hand washing is very important in the winter months..
A person wipes the other persons germs into his/her mucus membranes and the race is on for the chicken soup.
Not for everybody, but on the table if you wish to partake. hygene is hi gene...

hmmm, I think I'll go for the chicken soup! Tomorrow I will make homemade noodles, use veggies from our garden and chicken that we raised. We even keep the feet so that we can make real chicken broth!
I have also heard that about rinsing out the sinuses. Some folks use neti pots. Your method sounds easier! I will give it a try!

I really like matzo ball soup and I think the weather is just cool enough to use it as an excuse to do that...funny how certain words stimulate the palate...take out the salt from a saltine...mix with water into a little ball and simmer with the chicken...where's my pan...kosher? not really.

Probably wouldn't want to do that in Arizona, especially around Tucson. Most incidents occur from swimming, but this darling of death has been found in chlorinated water. It's not just Arizona . . Florida too, etc., but I know Tucson's aquifer is contaminated with it. Shower with your face down.

I am helping a handicapped neighbor get started with gardening. He wants to be self sufficient and since he is home all the time, thinks gardening might be what he can do. He has been saving old yogurt containers forever and has already drilled little holes in them for drainage to start seeds in. He asked me if I had any pumpkin seeds left over. I said I did. He said he would take whatever I could spare. He had a few packs of his own. As it turns out, his goal is to grow a jack-o-lantern for every child in the neighborhood. He planted 120 pumpkin seeds. One seed per container. I can't wait to see what his backyard looks like when they are developing pumpkins...
