@145 million people, with a country 3 times the size of the U.S., their population is predicted to fall precipitiously over the next few decades, some estimates of 80 million by 2050. Can't increase that fertility rate? What options do countries have, like Japan which is adamantly opposed to filling the vacancies with immigrants?
How are they going to protect their borders in the future? With their arsenal of nuclear weapons?
And what types of immigrants are going to rush up there to help fortify the country with their dismal climate?

The Russians HAVE to predict the downfall of America. Why? Because they're humiliated. First, their perfect communist system imploded and the world found out that Russia was a third world nation. The Soviet Union collapsed and numerous areas begged to be liberated from the perfect Soviet world. More humiliation.
Then, let's see...oh yes, their nuclear facilities are falling apart, in the countryside farming is from the 18th century. Outside the cities people live a backward life.
Meanwhile America remains strong. Yeah, it's weathered, but we are still the nation of choice for refugees and immigrants. We still churn our PHDs and patent things left and right. We have a growing economy.
Russia? Depopulation. Growing AIDS epidemic. Xenophobic. Fosters terrorist nations--Iran, Syria. Alcoholism epidemic. Run by oligarchs. Little opportunity. Of course, they want us to fail. It will make them feel better. They've been annihilated and humbled on the world stage. All they have is oil--and that will run out.
Russia doesn't need to increase its fertility rate. Its death rate is what's getting it. The TB/AIDS and amazing morbidity and mortality from alcoholism.
Birth control used to be hard to get, but abortion was cheap and available. I believe I read that the average Russian (or was it Soviet) woman had some six abortions in her lifetime. Of course, so many abortions can cause sterility.
Also, the marriage rate (and therefore parenting rate) collapses, because Russian women don't want to procreate or marry these drunken, die-young men.
If Russia proper is going to get immigrants, it likely is from the former Soviet republics. However, there is prejudice against these people, not sure if it's religion (since so many are Muslim) or racial (many are Asiatic).

Run by oligarchs....I think what we are experiencing in the U.S. right now is an unofficial oligarchy. What else explains this Commander-in-Chief's behavior of giving aid and comfort to the enemy while purposly dithering so that U.S. troop losses will become so great that we will have no option but to retreat in shame? What explains this administrations refusal to brief Congress on the Ft. Hood massacre, the closed door meetings with Democrats only and shoving thousands of pages of legislation through for votes WITHOUT allowing the representatives of minority parties to even read it???
We have a very small group of individuals, some elected and some without any Congressional approval or oversight, making radical changes in national policy while ignoring the limits of power placed upon it by the Constitution, and refusing to disclose any accurate accounting figures all the while openly attacking and discrediting any American who questions their motives or authority. The Fed is printing money at a rate unprecidented in all of the nation's history and fails to have the equity to back it. OUr economy and dollar is being purposly destroyed as to make way for a Marxist style government.
When this Russian professor's prediction first came out I thought he was a nut-job. Now, I wouldn't bet against his "prediction". Russians recognize a Marxist when they see one and we have several running this country right now. They know how much damage Marxists can inflict upon a country in a very short time.
