As we all go about our daily lives few give much thought to the fact that an emergency (in any or many forms) can happen to each of us at any point in time. Would you be able to use what you carry to save yourself?
That said, what do you carry on your person each and every day that might be able to allow you to survive the event?
well i live in a rural area and drive a piece of junk so even if i'm working only 20 miles away i carry 2 days food 2 gal water tow strap tools blankets tire repair kit and compressor. saved myself lots of times over the years. so yeah i'm good to go
On my person? Not all that much. In my car? Change of clothes, 2 days worth of water, 2 days worth of food, basic medical supplies, fire starter, plastic bags, bad weather gear, basic toolkit, a tarp, and a towel. You should always know where your towel is.
If I am cut off from my home, there is no place I will be , that I will not be trying my best to get there. As to what I carry on a daily basis, I am NEVER without a good knife, the tools on my truck (which includes a mapp torch...great for fire starting) and usually a rifle or handgun as well. I keep some MRE's behind the seat, a first aid kit of course, yea, I could survive, and I WOULD get to my family, or die trying. I should mention, my 'first aid kit' is closer to being a corpsmans pack. It's not exactly your garden variety Wal Mart travelers kit.
