Oh yes feeding the world on less and less available acreage is a Mansanto World Conspiracy. I mean there is no possible way they could be spending millions and millions of research money on creating the ideal corn stalk and wanting to retain some of the intellectual rights to that outlay of cash...oh no that is crazy talk.
I guess what I find ironic is, the cancer researchers do tv ad after tv heart-strings tugging ad fleecing people for their hard earned cash and have not even begun to cure cancer yet. But woe is me, let us all beat up on Mansanto who has actually accomplished something and could possible save millions of people from starvation in the near future and we label them as evil villains.
Talk about people failing to see what is really happening. Cancer research agencies fleecing the general population...and not having anything to show for it...now that is the true travesty!
Its like anyhting now days and if its really a creditabvle source it hard to squash it;nless you thnik teh media is controlled and everyhtig else. Bascially one research conflicts with another and often the rserach is politically based. If you read enough you will find that research has shown many things and ofe=ten exact opposites. Now days its actaully finding research that isn't economic ;politicallt based or driven by scare tactic.i wouold expect the FDA to be made up of various groups involved not just those with a specfic view.
Reading this post, it's amazing how polarized the opinions are. What ever happened to an open mind that actually would like to know the truth?
Half of you act like big corporations are angels just waiting to save some damsel in distress. That's crap. Corporations are in business to make money, and I'm not saying that they are all evil and cover up 'bad things,' but it HAS happened in the past and I'm sure it will happen in the future.
The other half act as if a corporation is a manifestation of satan on earth. Many corporations have done many good things for humanity.
Can't you see that it CAN and has gone both ways?
My personal opinion is always one of scepticism. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if some of this turned out to be true. Neither would it surprise me if it were false. But, when we're dealing with pesticides (poisons--if they can kill bugs, rats, and other creatures, they can kill people), and genetic engineering, I'm always for staying on the safe side, especially in this day and age when statisticians routinely make ridiculous conclusions based on anecdotal evidence, and neither are they above tampering with or fabricating data (sound familiar?).
The bottom line is that when a corporation has soaked millions or billions into something, do you think they are going to cave in so easily when a possibly legitimate safety question comes up? The corporation hiring a creative statistician is not unlike a big rancher hiring a gunman in the old west to 'enforce his perspective on things.' Again, I'm not saying something is amiss on this issue, but if there is a question, it is worth answering whether it's fact or myth before we all conclude it to be myth.
My wife recently developed food allergies. Something she never had before in her entire life. After many test and meetings with specialist, here is what we were told. The food allergies she has was most likly caused by GMO foods. There is an epidemic in this country of food allergies and we belivieve it to be caused by ingesting GMO foods. We asked why this was not all over the news and were told, Corporations with money can keep things silent for about as long as they want.
My ex-wife suddenly developed food allergies a while back just 'out of the blue.' She never before had a problem eating anything. Now, she can hardly eat anything; I feel sorry for her. Again, I wouldn't be surprised if our 'new and improved' food had something to do with it. Maybe so, maybe not; but one thing I'm sure of: our polarized society has a hard time allowing the real truth to come out on anything because everything turns into a 'religion-like' faith with two true believer camps--one on each of the far polar opposites. That makes for very hard times when it comes to legitimate, unbiased research. With me, it's always 'show me.' I would like to know the truth (even if it's contrary to my opinion). My opinion is neither sacred nor etched in stone. With many, if not most, folks it's, 'I don't believe that--case closed.'
If you want to understand Monsanto, watch the documentary "The World According to Monsanto".
The World According to Monsanto - Full Documentary (http://twilightearth.com/environment-archive-2/the-world-according-to-monsanto-full-documentary/ - broken link)
It's a hour and a forty fine minutes long, but it will open your eyes as to what Monsanto is up too. Can you say "full control of the world food crops?" Scary.
Anyone can do a study to prove or disprove anything. That's a fact. Next week I'm going to do a study citing vaccines causes autism and made me toot a lot when I was a tot. I won't have the statistical power to back it but no worries, the average person will get so riled up that they'll even believe it for years after they disprove my study.
