I’m not sure if this thread should be here or elsewhere, but my guess is here.

Insurance rates for my car and house have continued to go UP. I’ve been with the same independent insurance agent and company for 25 years, have a clean driving record with no violations and no claims for problems on the house. The auto and home policy has gotten beyond what is acceptable.

I was lucky to see a commercial on TV about two months ago advertising USAA insurance. If you don’t know who they are, they insure military servicemen who are or have been discharged from the service with an honorable discharge. In years past a member had to be active in the service or retired from there. This year 2010 the company relaxed their policy and it’s open to anyone who has served in the military and separated with an honorable discharge.

I had/have two cars, a house, and an umbrella policy with the old company and changed over to USAA with better policy coverage and lower rates per year. I have an excellent policy for coverage with many pluses and lower rates. Much lower rates! I’ve saved $1500 per year over the old policy and company and have better value in the USAA policy itself.

They have many types of services to offer online and via phone, not just insurance. So if you or your spouse have an honorable discharge you might want to check their website USAA.com and see if you can save money or get a better deal.

All the agents I spoke with were very pleasant and helpful, no one was pushy or tried to hard sell anything. I couldn’t have had better people to work with.

USAA is my insurance company and I love it. I've never had a problem with them and I rely on them a lot.

USAA has one of the best customer service 800#s in the world and the reps are very well trained. They know their stuff and they are very patient and polite (kind).

I have always been very pleased with USAA's rates. Plus, it's like dealing with family for me since my parents had USAA, too. Mother still does.
