I have a very firm mattress because of back problems. A few times DH mentioned that although it's done my back a world of good, he sometimes finds it uncomfortable. It has a memory foam pillowtop, we were told, and I do feel the heat if I wake up during the night. He's never complained of the heat, though.
I've been mulling over buying another foam topper in hopes that it would make the bed more comfortable for him, and would like to hear from anyone who uses one.
Would they make a difference for a person who dislikes a very firm mattress?

Does latex foam build and hold heat like memory foam? I do use latex foam pillows, but they don't seem to get as intensely hot as the bed does.

Any other suggestions on mattress toppers?

I am bringing this back up for two reasons.

The guy/gal never got a response and two .. I would like to know the answer myself.

There is a commercial from yourtopper.com being played and from the reviews of the site, people give the topper excellent ratings.

Has anyone purchased a topper that actually made a difference?

Thanks

We use an egg rate type topper, and find it to be a great help. The real cheap ones work well but don’t last long, however. Ours is like this:

Latex is not foam and doesn't hold the heat because it is an all natural product. I have a talalay latex topper on my latex mattress (I have a lot of pain and pressure point issues) and it is wonderful. I previously had a memory foam topper (to try and save a few bucks) and it was absolutely horrible. It felt like sinking into Play Doh and I actually couldn't move well on it. With the latex topper I get the feeling of floating on top (which is also true of the latex mattress), plus it is always comfortable temperature-wise. It's well worth the higher price. You can buy either Dunlop or talalay latex toppers; the latter are softer.
