Dominoes doesn't reimburse for gas. They reimburse for mileage. Which isn't the same thing.
Yup... I used to work for Domino's and they gave us about $0.30/mile, but that was back in 1997-ish. Even so, that wasn't a whole lot unless you drove a car that was amazing on gas mileage.

Yup again. I also worked at Little Caesars while attending college in Stockton, which is a city with some BAD neighborhoods... we actually had a black mark through the southeast on our map, and if anyone called from that region we told them "Sorry, but you'll have to pick up your pizza!" I can totally relate to that now, since I live in the worst San Francisco zip code - even cabs avoid our neighborhood, and I've learned to call TWO just in case one doesn't show.
Anyway, delivering pizzas was a really fun job while I was in college, but it does carry many risks & expenses... so tips are greatly appreciated, no matter what you give! My biggest tipper when I delivered for a chicken restaurant in Tahoe gave me $20 every delivery, and my biggest pizza tips were usually $5-10. A few things I observed in my years as a delivery driver:
- Bad weather means GREAT tips (and more business), so I used to love when it rained or snowed! Delivered somebody a chicken dinner in a blizzard once, and they tipped me about $10 and a cup of hot cocoa - for which I was really grateful.
- As hard as I tried not to notice, there is a difference in tipping generosity amongst the ethnic groups... won't go into details, since I wouldn't want to offend anyone.
- Some people tried tipping with drugs or alcohol, which I only accepted if said drugs were green and natural.
- People are weird! I even had a regular who was a nudist, but luckily he'd put on a robe (very loosely) before opening the door.
- At least in the places where I worked, nobody would spit on or otherwise damage your food because of a lousy tip... but some pizza places frequently violate health codes, so just remember cheap pizza is cheap for a reason.
Oh, and my LEAST generous tipper? That award would go to the lady (in Stockton) who asked "can you go to the gas station and get my change?" when the difference was about 25 cents - but I didn't have any change in my coin bag. And yes, I did get her precious quarter, despite my better judgment.
Back when I was in college I rarely tipped. But now that I'm a responsible adult with a salary I always tip usually 2 bucks. I really appreciate a nice scrumptious pizza at my front door after a long day at the office.
You should always tip someone if you want to use them on a regular basis. You don't want them doing a number on you (your hair, your mail, your food, etc.). Remember, they know where you live too, in the case of pizza delivery.

EEEWW!! I always figure that if I can afford to order pizza that I can afford to tip. Pizza delivery people are usually "kids" in school or folks between jobs. They both need the tips.

I'm am personally sick to death of tipping EVERYONE. Everyone wants a tip for a job they are hired and paid to do knowing full well what the wages are.
I don't get tips doing my job. I don't get extra from the doctors for getting docs out in one hour instead of 12. That is part of my job.. PERIOD
And we especially don't tip the pizza driver. We are already tacked on 2 extra dollars as a delivery charge here so we're not going to turn around and give more money. I love how people say "well if you can afford a pizza you can afford to tip" NO FRICKING WAY.. we can afford a pizza... NOTHING MORE... we're not giving our hard earned cash to someone who whines their way through life. "We live on our tips"... don't like it get another flipping job..
Don't like it get a job at Mcdonalds or some such where you're not driving. Don't come begging to us for it. Don't like the wages.. don't accept the job.
