Well, prices down or more memory for the buck. I'm trying to buy things for cheap to replace what was stolen before.

mp3 player
I'm looking for a 2GB under $50, preferably off brand.

2GB+ of RAM. I have looked into netbooks, but Best Buy doesn't seem to sell one with more than 1Gb of RAM.

I'm looking to buy in July or next year.

How much do you want to spend for the laptop?

As for the MP3 player, there are many ones out there for 2GB that are less than $50. It just depends on what you want.

If you just want something simple that you can listen music to only, I would recommend the Sansa Clip. You could get a 4GB for around $40 and a 8GB for ~$60. It is small and quite user friendly (it doesn't come with a manual though...which is strange, but a few minutes is enough to figure things out). The size is slightly bigger than an Ipod shuffle, so if you are forgetful and have a tendency to misplace things, it could be a hassle to find. But the MP3 player works just fine and it's a no nonsense one. Charging is just plugging the clip with a USB port on your computer, though sometimes it doesn't register, so you may have to re-plug it one or two more times and glance to see that the clip's battery is actively charging (I don't have a problem charging on my computer, but do with my brother's, so it might just be the computer...).

Source: Personal experience. I own a 2GB one ($35, 2-3 years ago) and liked it so much that I bought a 4GB one for my brother ($40, 1 year ago). Both are still used today
