Not ground shattering info....but info none-the-less.

If you have one of these stores around you, you can keep an eye on the close out sales.

Our Kmarts closed 10 or more years ago. On the list there are two in our state (WA) but none around here, our local one in Redmond is not on the list so I guess it will stay around. Funny though, I was there 12/23 and the place was empty.

We had a KMart close not to far from where we live awhile back. Since there were other closings planned, they actually sold all their inventory. Of course they started at top dollar, but I cashed in when they got to 75% off!

No K-Marts in DFW that I know of, and I don't think any of our Sears locations are slated for closure. Too bad, because Sears is AWFUL.

Hi Glory,

that's something to see. It's funny how it really gets you. Hearing about it is one thing but seeing the list is pretty amazing.

Kmart was the Big Box leader for years.

Sears on the other hand failed to market to anyone's generation other than the Boomers and their parents. Sears is a "old peoples" store, at least that's how it is viewed.

I like their tires and tools.

When I lived in Dayton, I think that Kmart(Salem Ave.) closed in the early 90's.

I was totally surprised that NO Sears, Sears Essentials, Kmarts, etc. were slated to close anywhere in the whole state of Illinois(both the Chicago area and non-Chicagoland parts of IL), though I know one regular Kmart in NW Indiana(Saint John, and btw one of the tiniest Kmarts I saw that was in operation in Indiana) and a Super Kmart(Portage, IN) are slated to close. I saw a handful of closings in Wisconsin, but it seems Michigan and Ohio are being affected more by the Sears/Kmart closings. There are a few Kmart and Sears stores I'd expect they may target in Illinois for closure, if the next round of 40 closures(keep in mind only about 2/3rds of the slated stores have been publicly announced, with 1/3 of affected stores yet to be announced) does include any Illinois stores. Something makes me think the North/Harlem Sears might be at risk of closing(due to the fact Irving/Cicero and North Riverside Mall are busier stores for Sears), and Elston/Cicero Kmart for the fact it seems like a deader store, than surrounding Kmart locations.

BTW, if you want a laugh, or are just curious as to the square foot size of each store, plus pics of most Sears, Kmarts, Sears Essentials, etc. stores, check this site out. You can search info on any Sears Holdings Corp. store here, including closed stores the company has yet to sell(lol). Enjoy!

Same here...........when I looked at the list, I was mainly looking for IL locations.

And in our local paper a big splashy ad announcing that a K-Mart store in town that became a Sears Essentials was doing a Major Remodel and becoming a K-Mart again.
