I can not imagine Wal Mart not doing Christmas layaway. This is going to affect a lot of families with children.

This is why I shop all year long.

I have tried making gifts, but I am not very craftsy. At 41 lopsided gifts that look like a 3rd grade art project don't go over very well.

My skills in the kitchen are not much better.... I have ruined more batches of fudge than I care to remember.

MHT, I've been trying to convince my step-daughter to do that for years. She and her husband have four children of their own, and not alot of money. His side of the family is quite large, and it makes sense to do it that way.

Well, that's twice that I've read what you said, and twice that I cracked up! What a mental image that is!

Yes, I think I am going to plead with my family that we all stop buying (except for the kids).

I am a graphic designer, so I had a neat idea: take all the family photos, and make a customized calendar for everyone. I could update it every year with new photos, and they could save then as collectables! I have a nice printer at home, and lots of craft materials.

It would mean so much more than a store-bought gift!

Oh, how I love Christmas...

You know, I might be able to make a little money off that idea. I could maybe make them for people, and I wouldn't charge much in keeping with the Christmas spirit...

Thanks. Would it make you laugh more if I told you it was true?

You had a great idea! I might try that calender thing this year. I usually get my daughters pictures taken every year and then buy frames (like a waterglobe frame of Holiday stuffed animal frame) and give those to the grandparents, they love them. But everyone could use a calender. Thanks, too bad you don't get any royalties though. =)
