Beginning of October and I already saw Christmas trees and decor sittin' around stores. *gasp*

I can't believe Christmas is less than 2 months away, it's almost unreal!

As for gifts, I guess I'm the type who really gets caught up in all the holiday hype and I usually overspend. I really don't have too many people to buy for (mainly nieces and newphews plus my parents and my siblings) so I usually try to have a bit of fun with my splurging. I guess the money I spend is worth it to see my neices and newphews eyes light up when they unwrap their presents. Of course come January, I'll be in tears after I see my credit card bill.

BTW What are the popular gifts this season for kids and teens?

I tend to overspend as well, but since I'm having the windows replaced in the house, one cat needed some expensive vet care, and one tank of fuel oil (I use 3 a season) is going to cost me more than $600, overspending is not happening this year.

I spend less and less with each passing year. Don't want to help China's economy any longer.... So send out a few cards, a few gift baskets and let it go. The important part, as was mentioned, is spending time with friends and family, nice dinner and chat by the tree and fireplace, etc. Also little gifts can go a long way if done with thought and love.

Completely. Traveling overseas and not even buying a tree. No more road trips to pay big oil, either.
