On NPR this morning, there was a very unique and surprising presentation about the Soda Stream product...

Sodastream | #SodaStreamAd.

Seems the product irritated many, since it aims square on at the big soda producers (Coke™, Pepsi™ and so on..) in it's ability to 1) save the consumption of soda bottles (the ad that they ran post-Super Bowl was that least 500 million plastic bottles would be consumed and left for landfills during that game alone!), plus it would obviously save you big time on the costs of commercial soda drinks by you making your own soda drinks.

Why the big deal?? Well, aside from the obvious crass commercialism that Coke and Pepsi brought to this fight, which is a part of all American free enterprise, the Soda Stream™ company is operated from their manufacturing plant in and on Palestinian land, which the state of Israel also lays claim to! Oh my lord!

So you can just imagine how convoluted this all becomes: profits made by Soda Stream (whose initials also spell... oh ohhh... SS..) may be used, as one un-ID'd person blurted out, to make the deadly missiles that Palestinians regularly launch (without a good cause so we're told..) on Israel.

So! Just how bizarre can the backstory about drinking homemade sugared soda water get?

Someone want to straighten me out on this one? Please?

The company has thirteen manufacturing facilities of which three are in the West Bank. It is not a Palestinian company, but it does employ around 900 Arabs.

It is not primarily Israeli-Jews owned either:

That's really interesting. I wasn't going to buy it before (when I was a soda, I usually want a Coke - the Real Thing, not a cheap substitute). The politics completely turns me off.
