Thanks everyone. No I don't use any fabric softener. I have never seen a stain like this before and I honestly don't know when it appeared, I just think if it was there when I bought it I would have seen it ???
I sure don't want to buy a bunch of different cleaners, but most of you are saying they're very cheap. I can see what we have at work and I will look for Awesum. No one is recommending a dry cleaner so that helps, I wasn't sure.

I understand. The same thing happened to me many years ago when I bought a gray blouse in that crinkly poly-blend material. As soon as I hand-washed it, a stain appeared almost in the same place as yours. I'm sure it wasn't visible before it was washed.

Since I was a teen, my mum worked on it for weeks with kitchen witchery (basically trying every home remedy of dibs & dabs of this & that) & finally lessened it to the point where I could wear it around the house. She said it was probably a defect in the material dye. It would have been far easier if we had some of the chemicals available today, but back in the Stone Age, we only had bar soap, powdered laundry detergent & rocks on which to beat our clothing on the river shore.

I made a list of all the remedies here & will hit a $ store soon. Here's Awesome... wow Don didn't mention it's $1 for 32-oz!

Bulk LA’s Totally Awesome Laundry Pre-Wash Stain Remover, 32 oz. at DollarTree.com

Don't worry about accumulating a small collection, because you may find certain chemicals will work 75% of the time & you'll need backup for others. I used to use OxyClean powder until I hit a few things it didn't work on, then I collected some more. Besides at $1-2 each, it's not a bank breaker. That's how I found the Zote soap, just by accident searching through a small $ store tucked away in a hole in downtown San Diego, when I needed something else. It's now my favorite clothing & kitchen stain remover.

And, yeah, I think dry cleaning fluid won't help much. I have those at-home Dryel kits. They have a small liquid in a stick you could try... the kits have 1 included & wow, they do work on dry fabric. In fact, you can buy them individually without the whole dryer kit for maybe $5-ish. I just remembered I have used them on champagne splashes on a taffeta-ish gown (I adore saying that... I feel like Grace Kelly ) & it did take out the stain instantly. They sell the sticks at Target & Ralph's Markets.

Here are some Dryel products. I've used the stain pen, but not the spray, which is a newer product that I'll check out. You can also use this link to get a $1 off printable coupon via email:

The wool lite dry cleaning kit are much cheaper than dryel and work much much better ....you cannot beat it . I dry clean my coats at home now since dry cleaning a coat can become very exspensive now .

Great, thanks PL. I hadn't seen the Woolite ones. That little Dryel pen does work well, however. I somehow transferred dye from a lavender pillow onto a white shirt & it took it out instantly, even though it had been in for days.

Yes, dry cleaning is outrageous. I began dry cleaning my own things because cleaners ruin my garments about 3 out of 4 times. I've never had good luck with them, in any state I've lived, no matter how much I've paid, so I do it all myself or wash by hand. And, the prices are ridiculous!
