Those of you selling on Ebay, do you allow returns? I see some sellers don't accept returns. If I am to sell, I'd also find returns a headache, especially if the buyer returns something not in original condition. However, without return policy, I guess no one will venture to buy from you?
I have 'no returns' checked but
that doesn't mean a buyer can't return things if something is wrong. eBay's policy, itself, covers that.
The ones that accept returns usually mean they will do so without any reason.
In one respect, it doesn't matter much since there are many who will just 'invent' something wrong ....or even create it...to see if they can get away with it.

I'm a seller, and yes I do allow returns. 30 days, no questions, no hassle, just return it in the same condition (so I can sell it again) and I will refund your payment.
In 10+ years of selling, I have only gotten maybe 5 items returned. So, for me, it is well worth it to have a generous return policy if it makes the customer more comfortable buying from me and it increases sales.
Of course, it depends on what you sell. I sell lightweight items and books, so return shipping cost isn't a big issue for me. If I was selling heavy auto parts or furniture or large heavy boulders, it would be a different story.
The return hassles really come with the clothing sellers, where they get 'renters'. Sellers end up having to get the clothing item cleaned, and possibly repaired before they could list it again. If I sold clothes, I would definitely charge a re-stocking fee for returned items.
Got another question...i had sold an item to a buyer recently on ebay and everything went well with payment after i sent him the item...now i have another same item that i want to sell him since he wants another one. I want to do this transaction outside of ebay of course so i can avoid the ebay transaction fees, etc.... how do i get him to send me payment through paypal without me getting charged the paypal fee? should he make payment as gift? Thanks.
He can just do a send request to your account... as long as he uses his paypal balance (if any) or debiting it from his bank account a straight up payment of whatever you agree on should require no fees both ways around.
I used to do strictly ebay way back in the day... but now with all the strict rules and stupid fees and having to wait 2-3 weeks for money to clear in paypal, screw that....
Craigslist all the way anymore.... strictly cash transactions and that money is in my pocket immediately.
