My BF and I went to Fry's over the weekend and he bought a new iPod. The sales guy said that they were "giving away" Canon printers with the purchase of new iPods...you have to fill in a rebate form and send it off to get the money back for the printer. We were like "sweet" and picked up the printer and the rebate form from the guy.

We only read the rebate form today, and it said that you're only eligible for the rebate if you buy a new monitor or laptop. It doesn't say anything about an iPod.

I feel pretty pissed off about it. Sure, we can take the printer back and get a refund...but I really hate being lied to. Anyone else ever experienced this at Fry's?

Fry's is the worst customer service on the planet. In California there was some rumblings about legislation to deal with this sort of "rebate" nonsense.

Uh ok.

I suppose we'll just take the printer back then.

Very old thread but I've spent about 4 hours trying to deal with Frys and a rebate ($50 less $3 fee for a prepaid Visa card) and have spoken with many people at Frys who cannot help. When I finally did reach someone at the Austin location, it was the customer service manager and she was so rude, I couldn't believe it!

I feel sorry for the people who work the floor. They probably have no clue about what goes on at the corporate level where decisions are made about how to mess with customers and bilk them out of their money. I have to go back to the store (time and fuel) just to deal with this issue, so what's the point? By the time I get the freaking rebate I could have made that much just working my normal job!

Many states have legislation banning these practices. It will be a cold day in the Amazon when Texas ever does anything to help consumers. Too many Republicans who don't want the government to interfere with the corporate giants who control our lives. After all, free markets work for the better of everyone! I learned that as an economics undergrad and the whole thing is bunk, based on assumptions about human beings, business, information and government that are so unrealistic as to be worthy of a comic book.

We refuse to shop there , too many bad experiences. Last time we brought something back that was broken/not working and watched them put it back on the shelf right in front of us....
