Actually, it is for some. When I bought it, I was asked if I'm taking some class at the local community college.
Come to think of it, my university has a novel every year that all the freshmen read. "A Lesson Before Dying". "Night". "The Things they Carried". Good books. "Nickel and Dimed" was one of them. Not my freshman year, but some freshman year.
