I disagree that having storage rooms or Pods full of junk is the American way. It's the American way as of about 1980. There WAS a time when we didn't buy Chinese cr*p.
LOL no, it used to be "made in Japan"!!!

It's only a bargain if the product is durable. If you've ever bought WM's "Faded Glory" brand and got more than 3 months use out of it, you're doing well. If i need clothing/accessories from a dept. store, i have much better luck with Target's "Merona" brand. It costs a little more, but lasts infinitely longer. JMHO, your mileage may vary.

I would add that it's only a bargain if you need it!

yes, everything was made in Japan in the fifties. Now, if you had saved a few of those items, they would be considered antiques almost.

I did find some stuff when cleaning out my parents' house after they died. LOL Can you imagine being "thrilled" to find stuff with "made in Japan" on a label??? My, how times have changed!

I chuckled at that as well.........today; 'Made in Japan' signifies top of the line quality in the same basic category as Germany (never mind that Mercedes cars are junk), Switzerland, etc.

Taiwan is essentially 'Japanese' quality now.

Another country that went from junk to top rung is S Korea in just one generation.
