Some people abuse the return policy to the extreme. Stand at the return counter at Walmart for 10 minutes and you will see the most ridiculous things people try to return after they had clearly used them, and their whole intention was to use it and then return it, thereby "borrowing" it for free.
Even with a receipt, Target refunds the current price...not the price you paid. So if you paid $10 and the item is now on clearance for $4.98, you get $4.98. At least that's how my Target rolls.
That is only if it is past the 90 day return period... Or some holiday items have a shorter time period.
To deter chronic theft for the purpose of returning for cash.
I bought back items to HellMart without a receipt and got store credit. Nobody asked for picture ID.
THEY ARE DATA MINING when they ask for DRIVERS LICENSE.
So are you saying that Hellmart thinks that everyone that does not have a receipt STOLE THE ITEM???
How did they get out without the detector going off??? What about all those cameras what are they for laughs?????
Or even the store clerks themselves can be taking YOUR ID and selling it to would be thieves.....NO DO NOT GIVE YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE with all that personal info!!!
INSIST ON A STORE CREDIT. And tell them you did not steal it and refuse to be treated like you did.

Because actual shoplifters never try those tactics....? Not everyone without a receipt is a shoplifter, but shoplifters WITH receipts are pretty rare.
Honestly the more someone protest the more I suspect they are trying to distract me from the truth.

Yes!!!!!! The other day, I was going to load some money on my prepaid card and I had to go to the customer service desk. An elderly man was trying to return old milk. Like it was in chunks. He claimed it expired a day after he bought it..
The cashier kept telling him no and he was making a scene. The manager finally gave him a 5.00 gift card. I got the impression that this man had the early signs of Alzheimers. (Ive seen this with my grandpa)
You can go ahead and argue with me, or you can come along with me next time I return something at Target and see for yourself.
I'm not arguing with you. I worked at Target, so I know their return policy. If your store isn't following Targets return policy then you should call corporate.
I don't even know why you would continue buying items that might need to be returned if they're not going to refund your purchase price.
