Nuts don't "go bad" a few weeks after the expiration date. Something else made you and your child sick. Walmart knows it. So does Walmart's legal team. Take the $15 and consider it a blessing....because that's what it really is.

Exactly. And I'm not buying the OP's claim that they offered something better. Wegmans would be out of business, if selling things past expiration dates resulted in monetary awards.

The whole thing sounds like a shakedown to me.

They had a weird taste and you continued eating and letting your child also continue. You should give Walmart $15.00. I think you believe they owe you big bucks. Well, you are mistaken. They don't owe you anything. Why would you eat nuts that taste weird? Hmmm...

Expired nuts? This whole thread? How many nuts are involved?

I seriously doubt it was the pecans that did it. Pecans that are old just dry up and look shriveled, like something you wouldn't want to eat. Normal looking pecans wouldn't make you sick. If you've eaten any restaurant food in the past 3 days, that is what you should suspect.

The way I see it, you blamed wal-mart for something that probably wasn't their fault.

A month and a half is nothing. Those dates aren't actually "expiration" dates, as if the food inside the suddenly turns bad on a specific calendar day. Those are "sell by" dates. Depending on the food inside, it could still be safe and edible for many years, and in the case of a can of nuts, I can't think of much that would keep better.

Kudos for getting WM to give you something, but I doubt there was anything wrong with the nuts.

Now i want to know if you were me, what would you do?? I really feel very upset..
You are fine, and your child is fine. Nuts that were a month and a half old more than likely did not cause your stomach upset. Don't be one of those people out to get something for nothing. So tired of this attitude. Why didn't you read the date and catch this expiration yourself? I always check what I eat, and I would always check what my child ate. This one should be on you.

The only thing you are really "owed" is your money back if you so desire.

Next time check your nuts before purchasing them!

fwiw

When Walmart.com has a snafu, the credit is usually based on the entire order rather than the single item. Thus the item is refunded (usually customers are told to dispose of perishables) plus one gets a credit.
