Hello,
We are currently looking at purchasing a BJ's Warehouse membership to save money on groceries, paper products, canned goods, etc. I will do anything to avoid shopping at Wal Mart! My question is: Is the $50.00 yearly membership worth it in your opinion?

Do a search (I'm sure it and/or Costco has been brought up) - for me personally - NO

It wasn't really for me. I probably 'saved' the $50 membership fee, but I also bought more processed food type items than I do without the membership. They also sell a lot of name brands when I might be okay with generics.

Thank you for the helpful advice. The membership price of $ 50.00 is way too high for me. I do not understand why it has to be so high but they do stay busy.

I had a dirty thought reading the thread title lol. $50.00 seems steep. Isn't Costco about $25.00? To me it seems only to be worth it for families with children

Costco is $60 per year for a basic membership.

I wonder if the price varies regionally? Mine was around $50 five years ago. I think it started off a bit lower but crept up.

We have been BJ's members for about 9 years, and have used that membership profitably and without complaint or issue. It was BJ's or Sam's Club, and BJ's was better, in our eyes.

That said, BJ's is across town, about 7 miles away. Costco is beginning construction on this side of town, an easy 2 miles from home. We will give Costco a try, and likely will not hold membership in two clubs. According to many people, we probably will like Costco better.
