Does anyone have the Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card from Chase? Are there any "fine prints" or cons that one should be aware of? Thanks.

Yes and no, none that I've run across that aren't standard to credit cards.
One thing to realize is that if using reward points to purchase something on Amazon, you won't get the triple points.

It helps to have both Chase cards. The Amazon card gives you 3% across the board on all purchases on Amazon and a sliding scales on other purchases (login to website to know which categories have what) with no limits. The standard card has promotional rates upwards of 5%, but they are usually capped at $1500.

Using points, is a discount off of the price. One does not get points on a discount as that would be double dipping. Thus one gets 3% of the net price paid.

I am looking at it now only because it offers $70 in gift card upon application approval. I'm interested in this "lump sum" more than the future points. I will probably just apply for it to get the initial $70 in gift card then keep the card unused. Is it really no fee (in case I totally forget about the card)?

The $70 gift card is a $70 credit, so as you make purchases it gets used up. Yes its a no fee CC.

If I'm remembering correctly, no reason not to use it since it gives the fairly common 2% on gas and restaurants.

So I finally decided to apply for that Amazon reward visa today while placing an order, because it says I would be able to use the $70 gift card instantly for this order. BUT after taking all my confidential information for the application, it ended up displaying this message to me:

"Thank you for applying for the Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card.
Unfortunately, an immediate decision about your application can not be provided as it requires further review. You will be notified in writing about the status of your application within 30 days.
.........."

WTF, Amazon???!!!!!

Hate to say it, but something in the instant credit check gave the issuer reason to not immediately offer you credit.
