I heard today that Target has sold their Pharmacies to CVS. Target Pharmacies in 47 states will now display the CVS logo. Less competition good for CVS, though I doubt good for us consumers. I can't say this surprised me. Target has already closed all its Canadian stores this year, as well as 1 or 2 stores in Las Vegas. Then laid off a number of employees at its Minneapolis offices. Evidently Target feels it still needed to cut corners, and decided its Pharmacies were not profitable. .

Target did not decide the pharmacies were not profitable... they actually WERE unprofitable!

Used Target pharma for a bit generic prices were good and they had some unique ideas I liked such as different color labels for each family member and flavors for kids medicine. Also liked the pill bottle shape better. But they were understaffed which resulted in terrible customer service. Wait times were abysmal for scripts that were said to have been filled an hour ago. The confused way in which my flu shot was handled also made me think they probably didn't do too many of those either.
Still stinks to lose a big player in the field - less choices always ends poorly for consumer. I liked the generic program they had 10 bucks for a 90 day supply was tough to beat. Honestly prefer that to free 30 day- two 8 less trips to pharmacy a year is worth it.

I get why Target wanted to sell to CVS but I dont get why CVS would want to buy. If I am CVS I dont want my customers anywhere near a store they could get the same item (possibly for less) from

I rarely need medicine at a pharmacy, but when I do, I try to use Target for the 5% discount. I thought CVS was just going to manage the Target pharmacies after they buy it, but keep the Target name. Either way, if CVS owns it, I'm not shopping there. I stopped looking at their store ads years ago after reading about their shady business practices.

Too bad because the Target pharmacies I went to had great customer service and prices were more reasonable than
CVS.

Target closing the Canadian stores has nothing to do with how well their stores are doing in the US.
