My landline phone has a Silent Mode feature wherein I program the times I do not want to hear the phone ringing; callers can still leave a message. Also I am able to block any calls that do not display the phone number of the caller.
With Caller ID, I never answer if I don't know who is calling, and most don't leave a message.
My phone service provider allows me to post up to 30 phone numbers that will be automatically blocked and those callers won't even reach my phone.
Before Caller ID I rec'd numerous calls asking for donations. Most were courteous, but one time the caller presented as too aggressive. So when he mentioned a "donation", I said, "Great! I can certainly use a donation. Do you have a piece of paper and pencil for my address to mail the check?" Click.
