We bought Home depot carpet 8 months ago, bought the best padding, top grade scotch guard carpet, had a manufacterer, come out, to do a test on it, they accused us of spilling coffee on the carpet, I have no formality paper stating what the paper said, we are military people, we never ate or drank anything in the room, and we got white blotches coming up everywhere, we have yet to see the paper, but, being falsely accused of this, any suggestions, they said they would clean the carpet, the carpet is not dirty, its just me and my husband, its never been walked on where the spot is coming up, and its spreading, the only thing they said they would do is clean the carpet, and make us buy carpet at 50% off, not good enough, for me, hiring a lawyer, for being accused of spilling something on the carpet we never did ! 3 to the tune of 3,000 dollars, we redid a whole house windows doors tile carpet trim, paint, at a tune of 60,000 and they won't replace a 15x 15 piece of carpet, anyone got any suggestion,
We recently had Lowe's install carpeting (Stainmaster with a 25 year warranty) in our master bedroom. They measured it accurately and the installer was very meticulous in the installation and called us a few weeks later to see if we were still happy. We were. We took adavantage of their $199.00 install also. On another ocassion we had Lowe's install some doors. 2 doors had a flaws in them that we didn't catch until a few days after the job was done. They went out of their way to please us with no hassles replacing them. They even gave us the door hardware for free for our inconvenience. You know they don't want any bad publicity. It's bad for business.
I understand that they have had some bad contractor complaints for various trades they use, but they fire them when complaints are filed and go out of their way to redo the work to satisfy the customer.
We had a similiar situation with HD a few years ago. One of the contractors installed some new windows improperly and made a mess. HD immediately sent out a new crew and replaced everything plus extras like painting the walls, new drywall, etc to make sure we were completely happy.
They key thing on an install job is not to make a final payment for the work until you are completely satisfied. That's what we did and HD was fine with that.
