Good points. But they still need to remember people can drive to a different town if Walmart is the only game in their town and do the shopping in that other town. Also Walmart has a low price guarantee and must match the competitors price. If a Walmart is selling food(superwalmart) they cant price higher than the local grocery stores.

If it is in a rural town and you have mostly elderly people they are not going to drive 100 miles to the nearest grocery store that is not a walmart.
Who told you they can't price food higher than the local grocery stores? They do it ALL the time. Try the price of milk. That is one of some stores in the walmart chain that they rape people over the coals with.
If its a rural town, buy from a farmer or drive 10 miles to the next rural town. Milk is one thing priced higher but only by a few cents. Almost everything else is priced lower.

LOL!!! You need to get out more. Never traveled thru rural country much have you? The next rural town is only going to have that walmart too if they have a store at all. Farmers don't grow sheets, towels, automotive supplies, dog food, toilet paper, etc. Besides not every produce, fruit or grain can be grown in every part of the country.
A few cents........ that is funny. I encountered some people that were paying over $2 more a gallon for milk at walmart than I was at SuperTarget . Same goes for MANY items.
But if you're buying everyday stuff -- e.g., Leggs Pantyhose, Oil of Olay body wash, Northern Toilet Tissue or Cheerios, what difference could it possibly make if you buy it at Walmart or at your highest priced grocery store in town, except Walmart will be quite a lot cheaper? I'd rather save a few bucks personally.
Also, in my local experiences, the Walmarts are clean, the parking lots are patrolled and clean. And the stores are NOT blue and red! OK, most are fairly new (1-4 years), but the neighborhoods will not allow trash to exist that close to them.
The reasons why I don't shop at Walmart are b/c the company pays pitiful wages, offers poor health care benefits, creates more suburban sprawl, displaces local business, forces it's suppliers to continually lower prices that suppliers turn to "sweatshop" labor overseas, is an energy behemoth using more electricity than any other private company in the world and emits millions of tons of greenhouse gases annually...I think I pretty much covered it. Most ppl don't really care and will continue to support this monster with their money b/c it really doesn't effect their immediate lives, at least not yet. What goes around comes around...

I'm not sure where you live but "buying from a farmer" or driving 10 miles isn't always an option. I live 70 miles from the next town - and that's where there's a Walmart. If you want to buy from a farmer here you go to the sale barn on Thursday and buy a whole beef - that came from the 30,000+ head feedlot down the road. I do shop at Walmart because I can go to one store and get everything I need. When I go to town it is for the day. I have many stops to make so the faster I can get things done the better. We do have a new Walmart so it isn't dirty - yet anyway.

I would rather pay more money to go to a nicer store and have a better experience.
Wow that is way too rural for me if you are 70 miles in the middle of nowhere! All the towns and cities in WV, OH and PA have many small towns one after the other 5-10 miles spaced apart. Theres big cities anywhere from half hour to two hour drive away depending which town I choose to live in. I could make that a day's trip and buy enough to last a couple months.
