A few weeks ago my husband bought a bag of Doritos. A smaller bag, 3 servings. After opening it, and ate about 3/4 of the bag he noticed dead ants. So he emptied out the bag on a napkin and lots of dead fell on top of the napkin. Have you heard about anything like this before?

I've had flies in my bag of dog food before. Nothing in my food though.

Clearly, there must have been a flaw in the packaging in order for ants to have invaded that bag. If you contact Frito-Lay at the toll-free phone number noted on their packaging, I can guarantee that they will be interested in knowing about this problem, especially if you can provide the lot number printed somewhere on the bag. And, they will provide a refund, and may even include some coupons for discounts on future purchases.

Probably a pinhole in the bag, or improperly sealed at the factory. It happens. Occasionally at work we get sealed boxes or bags that don't even have product in them, sometimes the machines don't function perfectly like they are supposed to. Or it could have happened after it left the factory, people that handle merchandise aren't always gentle with the products. I agree you should call the company and let them know.

If the ants were dead then it may have been a sign about the quality of the Doritos. You might want to notify the Doritos company that they have a good ant killer and they could possibly expand their product line in the pesticide business. Maybe you'll get a monetary bonus for the suggestion.

Argentine ants are amazing critters. Where in the distribution chain or your home they entered is a guess. I wouldn't fault anyone, but just remember that they will inherit the earth, along with cockroaches. In all seriousness, their survival strategy is brilliant.

So I googled this and I guess this has happened before. I actually just went back to store and got mu money back. I probably should have contacted company. I told the cashier what happened she was like....oh....gross...I'm hoping they call the company but who knows. Just make sure you inspect your bags next time..lol
And yes..extra protein was a plus.

Yes that's quite gross but I doubt the store will do anything about it. I would definitely send a letter or email the company and let them know. I'll probably think of your story the next time I go to eat Doritos, yuck!
