I do a little bit of both. If I can't find what I'm looking for in my local brick and mortar stores, I may turn to the online. Kohl's is somewhat helpful in that if you don't see it (mostly clothes in my desired size/s) then I can put up the tag in the kiosk and see if they have it there to order.
Looking for some things in Amazon and other websites, sometimes I can pull up the item and get a better visual view, also reading comments from those that have said product. That helps me too. A nice feature of being able to zoom in, sometimes sites will allow me to do the pinch to enlarge, some have multi views of the item and some won't allow me to do any of those. Even when some sites allow additional viewing, I still can't see everything I'm looking for, for example - inside jacket pockets, are some of the outside pockets buttons or snaps, is that a real zipper on the side of those jeans or one of those fake zippers (which I don't like at all).
Brick and mortar when possible. I don't like having to place my order and wait 5-7 business days for it to come in and then go through the hassle of returning it if I don't like it. Plus, I want to try out clothes before I buy and I can't do that when clothes shopping online.
The thing is, the products I want are not available at malls. Examples of what I've bought online the past six months: men's watch with Spiedel twist-o-flex band, solar flash light, Remington XF8700 washable razor with rechargeable battery, body lotion applicator with long handle, Bodylastics exercise bands, separate exercise band handles, exercise balance board to rehab sprained ankle, sponge with handle to wash drinking glasses, and EE width running shoes with hook and loop rather than laces.
One food exception I bought online for years was Geni-Soy creamy ranch soy crisps which were unavailable locally. Used to buy two dozen at a time, but now they're discontinued.
This year, I found myself become lazy. Most of the items I bought are from online shopping, like amazon, walmart, Macy's, etc. It is so convenient
What about you?
Definitely online. It's far easier to comparison shop for the best deal. Also can shop for more in less time. Also doesn't use gas or risk an accident with all the traffic.
Location: The Circle City. Sometimes NE of Bagdad.
