That is true but I have seen a handful of Kroger items on sale at local mom & pop convenience stores. Usually a can of soup or a pack of cheese. Did they get the OK from Kroger to do that or did they pick up a few items at Kroger just so they can stock their shelves to make it look full ?? I got a hunch it's the latter. Walmart, Target and even Albertson's/ Safeway has a number for one to call if they see such things but I don't think Kroger does.

Most likely what you will see are approved items that were purchased using some form of welfare program and the recipient traded the goods for unapproved items (cigarettes, liquor, fat laden garbage, etc) and that is why you may see it in some no name store. If the Kroger family of stores ever decided to sell outside their chains, it probably won't be their "Kroger" labeled items but the "Private Selection" labeled items, and that is still a big If.

Was it at one of Kroger's six convenience store chains:

Kwik Shop
Loaf N' Jug
Quik Stop
Tom Thumb
Turkey Hill
Smith's Express?

Also, convenience stores often will buy product at a bigger grocery store to resell in their store. It makes sense to buy 3 jars of pasta sauce from the grocery and mark it up by 25% instead of buying a case of 12 from their wholesaler if that case will sit on the shelf for a year.
