We need a new dishwasher and my original plan was to get a $300 Whirlpool. However with installation (and truck delivery, since that isn't free with a $300 model) the total would be around $550. Currently the Bosch models come with free installation (and free delivery since they're more expensive) so even though the least expensive stainless steel model is $539, I'd end up paying only about $50-$75 more than the Whirlpool. I'm leaning towards the Bosch since it seems to be a better dishwasher and not a big price difference overall but I'd like to get others' opinions. I think the main drawback of the Bosch is that the silverware rack isn't in the inside of the door like it is with the Whirlpool, so it takes up space in the dishwasher. We have a family of 4, so having plenty of space (efficient space) is important.
I've probably had my Bosch for 10 years now. Kids are grown and gone. Bosch stiil runs like a charm. Outlasted a GE (albeit a cheap builder grade one) and a Kitchenaid (which I loved until it stopped working). Not one issue with it despite the fact it was a bottom of the line model. Quiet and dependable. Love it.

Our LG recently died, and the repair guy quoted $400 to fix it so we decided to get a new one. We asked him which were the best and he said Miele, followed by Bosch, then Whirlpool. We went with Whirlpool, found it on sale with stainless door and tub for about $450, the equivalent Bosch was over $600. After a couple of months we are very happy with it. Installation was not an issue, I did it myself, and have done several others in the past so it took about 1/2 hour.
