I'm "this" close to ordering one but keep talking myself out of it because I already have a slow cooker and a pressure cooker, and am wondering if an Instant Pot is overkill?
Have any of you ditched your slow cooker/pressure cooker and bought an Instant Pot? Does food taste better than a slow cooker for example?
I'm waiting for them to start appearing on the shelves at the thrift stores before I buy mine.
I remember back when I worked at a retailer and we couldn't keep the George Foreman grills in stock.
Now? Tons of them for a buck or two at any Goodwill or yard sale.
I think the things I've heard about food not getting really "browned" in the Instant Pot keep me from looking into them very seriously, and I love to cook.
Any, I'm writing. I've taken too many kitchen fads to the thrift stores myself (bread machine anyone?)
Well... I've ditched the slow-cooker because it was unused other than collecting dust. Decided not to replace it with another dust collector. No regrets.
Thanks for that link Flamingo13 - I'm up to page 5 with goodness knows how many more pages to follow.
The general consensus seems to be that its a great little appliance. So far I've not read any comments about it not browning properly. Browning was one of the main attractions to my buying one - one less pot/pan to wash.
You're welcome (it didn't come up on a search for me either..... I just scrolled until I found it). The IP has been discussed recently in a home chat on The Wash. Post - mixed opinions, the expert cook said there is a learning curve on using it. I personally am fine w/my crock pot for my needs. Good luck.

My George Foreman grill went to a Salvation Army thrift store. My microwave, toaster oven, and electric frying pan are all that I need to cook with.

Why would you want an instant pot if you already have a pressure cooker. Is yours not electric and you want an electric one? If so, the Instant Pot and several other brands are great.
