People were mis-using the policy big time, they made the right choice. I love my LL Bean duck boots with real wool. Mine are almost 5 years old and in mint condition.

I knew someone who returned a bleach stained shirt with the notation - did not launder well.

There will always be people who abuse a liberal return policy, but retailers weigh that against the increased business they get from people buying confidently, especially mail order or now online sales.
