We recently ordered an item for a friend who has a PO Box address, and it looks like we were given the Two-Day Shipping option when we ordered, and after ordering it shows a delivery date of this Wednesday. I wonder, is Amazon now offering Two-Day shipping to PO Box addresses?
I don't see what prevented them from this in the first place, considering Amazon has its presorting arrangement with the USPS where Amazon's linehaul network drops off packages to a local post office and the USPS delivers the last mile. However, I think there are a few post offices out there that don't get Amazon drop-offs. Perhaps Amazon's shipping algorithms got smart and is able to determine which ZIP codes can get two-day delivery to PO Box addresses. I will believe it if it gets delivered this Wednesday.
"Free standard shipping" or "Free release-day shipping for Prime and PO Boxes. I'm sure the 2 day option might be available on certain items and PO boxes but according to this link it's not a standard benefit that you can expect with every Prime order.
Looks like it was shipped today and Amazon still expects a Wednesday delivery. It will be dropped off by Amazon's linehaul network at a local post office and the USPS will deliver it into the PO Box.
Looks like that package won't be delivered this Wednesday after all, since it has been declared that it will be a national day of mourning for George H.W. Bush. I'm guessing for some overnight deliveries placed today Amazon probably won't be using the USPS (although Amazon doesn't use USPS much for overnight).
