An endless search for decent sizes..........
Today, once again, I was unable to buy a simple pair of chinos. Why is that? Not one store at the mall had anything lower than a size six. Even Coldwater Creek only had large sizes & they were all cut so large that a size zero would have been too big. Even the petite departments of most stores begin at size six.
I am NOT that small of a person & I am not able to find any clothes that I can wear. What do really little people do ? I'm also really too old to wear junior clothes. I'm retired already.
Why don't manufacturers supply the stores with a couple of size fours?
Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do besides order everything by mail order which can be more espensie as in Lands End. ?????

I'm w/you - FED UP w/this "downsizing" - Been the same size since forever (I actually have pants from just after H.S. and I'm pushing the half century mark..yikes) - I don't buy any clothing online anymore, a 0-1-2-3-4 can be anything from an "old" 2 to a "now" 8. SUCKS.
I am a small person, used to be able to occasionally find clothes in kids, but they are now all glitter/sequins, etc. - what stinks is: I used to be a 2 (sometimes 4) or a 3 in Jrs. - they have all upsized so much... I occasionally find a 0 (what's up w/that size?) that fits. If you are petite and can't sew, forget it - S.O.L.

I don't even want to think about it - I (and others have other threads on here about sizing) - it just fries me that "they" all started to "say" the clothes were smaller (seriously, if you know you are, for instance, a size 10, you aren't stupid enough to be thrilled that a size 6 fits). Whoever thought up 0...DUH

It's all about marketing and making everyone feel good about fitting into a smaller size, so they "upsized" the sizing...the former 2 can now fit into a 0. The former 18 can now fit into a 16...
Anyhoo, back to your question...if you can find a Petite Sophisticate, that would be my best bet. I had a boss of some 20 years ago who is a size 2 and can only find it in Talbots. OTOH, the good thing about Lands End or LL Bean is that the inseams are sized in half inch increments. That makes it even better. I sew and normally hem my jeans up, but if I can avoid that step, I will pay the extra to not have to do it. I also had success at the Ann Taylor outlets...they are way less expensive than the AT storefronts if you are not finding any at Coldwater Creek.

Problem is: what do those of us that have to search for 0,1,2 (or children's) do when "they" decide to do the sizing screw up again

LMAO - we're not all supposed to be the same size - how boring would that be? I just want them to stop screwing up sizing. (you probably have much better hair than I do )

I used to work in retail... and wore a size 4... when a shipment of new clothes would come in to be put on the floor we would get one- maybe two size 4's (nothing smaller)... I would of course go right in and try them on- if I liked them they didn't make their way onto the floor in the first place. Buyers tend to buy for the mass majority of consumers- the majority of clothes you will find in a store will be 8, 10, and 12. The others will dwindle as the sizes go up and down... it is a matter of supply and demand.
