Default Sam's Club vs Costco

I am a Sam's Club member. I was just wondering does anyone prefer one club over the other.

Costco for me...I've been to a Sam's and used to belong when we lived somewhere there was no Costco....I don't know that there is a huge difference. I do know that I have friends who belong to Sam's and ask to go with me to Costco periodically (she says the clothing is much better - more name brands etc) but I have never felt the need to ask to go to Sam's with her...

Costco seems to be just a notch higher in quality of merchandise, but that's just my perception. It's been a while since I've been to a Sam's Club.

Over the years, I have belonged to all twenty or so of the "membership clubs." In general, I have found that you can beat their prices very easily by shopping around.

My favorite club is BJs Wholesale as they have a deli in the store that is about half the price of the Big 3 grocery stores and generally, they have smaller purchase quantities.

Sam's Club is generally cheaper although our local Costco store now has "me too" pricing. You can see the local Costco managers sneaking though Sam's doing their competitive shopping.

Sam's is more geared toward the small businesses and when I had a vending business, it was one of my better vendors. Great service.

Costco is a bit too yuppy for my tastes.

Wow. Thanks for the information. I guess I will have to do some comparison shopping at Costco. My mother in law is a member, and my wife uses her complimentary card to shopt there sometimes. But my wife likes Sam's meat better.

The best way to go about it is to group up with friends with memberships instead of having multiple memberships.

Personally, the only thing that I buy at the club stores are my prescriptions and seasonal clearance.

Costco is pretty far from yuppy, but seeing as how you prefer Sam's Club (which is owned by Wal-Mart) I can see why.

Sam's Club (and Wal-Mart) will never get my money.
