At least where I live, Target is classier, if you want to call it that. Wal-mart is a mess. They're out of a lot of the items you want, the stuff has been repackaged (former returns--who knows what's missing), and things are damaged. I know that happens anywhere but it is really common at Wal-mart. Target has beautiful home decor and party departments. Also, the lines move more quickly.

So if the overwhelming majority of Americans seem to prefer Target over Wal-Mart, then why do the Wal-Marts near me always feel so over-crowded whereas the local Targets are usually relatively tranquil? I swear to God at many times some of the Wal-Marts around here are like a white-trash free-for-all with people hitting their kids, people cursing in different languages, pregnant women purchasing cigarettes, obese people walking around with a cart-full of Doritos, etc. I just feel "embarrassed" by association if I ever go there, hence why I've now converted to being a Target shopper.

I actually went to the Walmart out by you in Honesdale a couple of times. It was ok. But if I ever lived in the NE PA area (Hawley & Milford look like pretty cool small towns for starters) and got to know it better, I would assume there has to be better stores in the area? Even small downtown stores are good for many things.

yeah walmart standards arent that high but target is just can be expsensive for things, but i love the target popcorn tho =), and they are pretty empty too, its like pick your poison, do you rather get want you need at a cheaper price at walmart but wait an hour to check out or would you rather pay 1-3 dollars more per item at target to check out in 5 min

TARGET.

I think it's CHEAPER. Always have SALES not only when ADVERTISED and MERCHANDISE always availiable. I feel their reputation is BETTER then WALMART and for good reason.

Being a Minnesotan I had to choose Target, although I have no problem with stopping into a Walmart store. I like the fact that alot of them are open 24 hours.
