Well contrary to what everyone here says, I had fake for my wedding. We had a formal wedding but I didn't want to waste money on real flowers that were going to die. If you go to the right place and have the right arrangement then can look real. Trust me, nobody but the bridal group are going to touch them. The best part is you get to keep them. I still have my bouquet from my wedding 13 years ago. It's in a box, put away, but I can look at it any time. And you can't tell from the pictures that they're not real either.

I'm going with the crowd on this one and have to agree, real flowers are the way to go.

I'm sure there are fake flowers that look great but I wouldn't take the chance that they may end up looking tacky.

A good florist can show you some inexpensive alternatives. I have seen gorgeous table centerpieces with a candle and a simple rose and babys breath that was stunning and romantic.

I do like the idea the pp said about keeping her fake bouquet, though. That's kinda cool!

Congratulations!

We are doing small flower centerpieces for our wedding. I am going with yellow roses. Although I am not the biggest fan of roses, they are pretty much the cheapest, so all is well in the end. I think that no matter what type of real flowers I use, they will look nice

Ps. I haven't actually seen what they look like in real life, but I have heard that one new trend is to do silk flowers, I guess they are cheaper? I don't know how realistic looking they are though..

Fake flowers that actually look real are very expensive. Inexpensive fake flowers very rarely look real (I have actually never seen any but I'm leaving the door open knowing I have not seen every inexpensive fake flower out there)- except MAYBE at a distance. There are other options - depending on the time of year, using in-season flowers, or using flowers only for the wedding party and other things for church/altar/pew decorations as well as for reception decorations. I have seen lovely bouquets using mostly a variety of greens - that can look very luxurious if done well. Personally, I would rather use something different all together than use fake flowers. But that's just me....

My wedding had artificial silk flowers decorating the altar and they looked 100% real in my pics.

Spending extra on flowers wasn't an option for us, we chose to spend more on our honeymoon.

My bouquet, my hubbs boutonniere, and the wedding party all had genuine flowers.

Saved A TON!!!!

I do like silk flower arrangements if they are done nicely, but for your wedding, I say splurge for the real ones.
