Never had internet probs or overpricing (ten types of tax on land line) until living in the south...the area has limited service, comcast phone stinks, so the consumer is stuck w/ lousy service from Embarq....Its the same as a monopoly and there should be laws 2 protect the consumer...

You can't blame the phone company for taxes they have no control over. Talk to your local/state/federal representatives about that.

I agree. Embarq is bad here. My phone sounds like 2 tin cans strung together, and my internet drops at least once a week. Yesterday my internet went down at 5pm and was still down when I left for work this AM. I called their customer svc dept from work to ask how long I had left on my contract and to tell them just how awful their service was, and svc came back up sometime during the day while I was at work.
Think the timing was a coincidence? Or maybe they forwarded my complaint to the repair dept?
At least I have the option of a little local company here. They are even pricier, but I'm thinking of switching over because Embarq is just too much aggravation.
I'll give them points for having polite phone reps, even if the reps spend too much time insisting that they are a great company and they just don't understand why I'm not happy.

They are living in the dark ages with their fees and horrible service..when I first got my house,it took them 3 hours to hook up net service in my house and I had to take a day off from work...lol, and I had the same connectivity problems you had;they have their net service ctr in jonesborough and it took 3 times to call the lousy customer service just to get online.....(The solution is dump your landlines and net with them, use your cell and handheld ....they are losing customers at a record rate...

Oh and when we first wanted satellite thru them they wanted 300 cash down,(I have great credit and own a house here since 04),did you ever go to their pymnt ctr on Roan St? Lol, a new unskilled employee every week,I guess they get fired all the time.they will learn this isn't 1970 and they are not the only game in town
