I love DirecTV. I don't think I could stomach any other TV service, but I will let you know about a practice they apparently abide by.

One of my receivers broke down about a month ago, and I had to send it back as soon as they sent me a new one.

Well, I went to look at my bill today, and saw a $39.95 for a WWE PPV, charged two days ago. I immediately accused my nine-year-old son of ordering the PPV, as he is a WWE fan. I noticed the bill had an access card number beside it, so I looked at every access card in the house, and none matched. I apologized profusely to my son.

So off to the phone I went.

Apparently, when you send a receiver back to them, they check the access card for any unbilled charges. That $39.95 charge was for a WWE PPV, from two years ago, that I do recall watching, but I do not recall not paying for it. The phone rep assured me that their system does not make mistakes (well, it does if it didn't charge me when the PPV was ordered).

I have no problem paying the fee, because I have no leg to stand on since I don't have two-year old DirecTV bills laying around. I just think it's kind of underhanded to put it on a bill without clear explanation or even a phone call.
