So I go to a local buffet restaurant for dinner - they sell to go by the pound.

I get my food and go to the cash register and pay - and ask for utensils. They always have those little packages of cheap plastic ware and a napkin.

The cashier tells me they don't have utensils. I tell her I don't want to eat my food like a dog - I need utensils. She tells me everyone who gets take out brings their food home and uses their own utensils. I explain my kitchen is being redone and I don't have utensils. I want my money back.

She calls the manager and as soon as he gets there - she remembers they keep the plastic utensils in the cabinet next to her. Surprise. I take the utensils and go.

But.....I am so pissed, I walked back in the place, found the manager and complained about how she wouldn't willingly give me utensils. I shouldn't have to explain why I need utensils. Yada, yada, yada.

So now I feel incredibly guilty for complaining to the manager. But at the same time I am still pissed!

Am I just a b$tch?

NO not at all sounds like they have an employee that does not really care about customer service.

No you're not. I would have done the same thing. No explanation was necessary in order for her to willingly give you some damn utensils! It's a food establishment - utensils are a given!!!

Not at all. If they have take out, they need to offer utensils. I hope the employee is spoken to about the attitude.

No. Customer service sucks nowadays. You did this particular establishment a favor by speaking to the manager. You were only asking for what you paid for. I think the attitude of some of these employees go unchecked until someone decides to speak up. It's bad for business but rarely is anything done about it. So just think, because of you, she's probably now offering utensils to every customer that walks in the door!

I would have done the same thing. The employee was NOT doing her job. The manager needed to know this is how customers are being treated. After all, a dissatisfied customer means likely that customer won't come back and patronize them again.
