That means it's an unlocked Iphone and that enables you to use it with any provider. I want one so bad, but I will not go with ATT.
So many people seem to "jailbreak" them these days. Has anybody experience with this? Is everything working? Or are there some things that will only work with ATT?
I heard the contract between ATT and Apple expires next year, which would open up the Iphone to other providers. But I got doubts that ATT will let this happen. Probably gonna try whatever they can do to keep the contract.

Mac Life has an issue out called "iPhone Handbook". They offer tips on how to unlock iPhones and such (1st gen anyway.) I picked my issue up at Best Buy, but I'm sure any bookstore such as Borders or Barnes & Noble carry it.

I've heard there is a difference between jailbreaking and unlocking...I've tried neither. I am afraid of messing something up because I don't really know what I am doing.

I'm waiting too...read an article about how AT&Ts service is overloaded due to the IPhone...

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/03/te...ies/03att.html

Hope Verizon will be able to sell it soon. I want to see what the Android will be like. That's the phone they are partnering with Google....

I've jailbroken an iPod touch (same software as iPhone), it broke 2 weeks later so there's always a risk. There's mostly success stories though, everything usually functions properly but sometimes YouTube doesn't work but there's a fix for that. Visual Voicemail and 3G won't work if you jailbreak and go to T-Mobile.

I want an iPhone badly but AT&T is too expensive and overloaded, its been coming to multiple carriers per country lately such as many European countries and Canada, I hope the US is next because I'd like to get one on T-Mobile.

You go on Perez Hilton? He's been complaining for the last week about T-Mobile.

Their service has been down for a week now!

Wow, my BlackBerry Curve has been fine, I heard Sidekicks were down but I don't know why only they would be down.

Yes, there's no way that I'm gonna ATT. WAY to expensive.

Ugh, I'm such a fool. They released a new software for the iphone one day after I bought it ( 7th) and of course I updated it That's why I can't unlock it yet. Usually takes them several weeks to come up with a new jailbreak. But I guess I can just wait until I can do it.

Where'd you buy it from?

I think I might do what you did and jailbreak it to use on T-Mobile.
