I have a cellphone and a landline.

News, More people ditching landline for cell phone

Portion of adults just using cells grew to nearly 12 percent last year

WASHINGTON - More than a quarter of young adults have only cell phones, making them the leading edge of a strengthening move away from traditional landline telephones, a federal survey showed Monday.

Overall, the portion of adults with only cell phones grew by more than 2 percentage points in the latter half of last year to nearly 12 percent, an expansion rate that began in the first part of 2006 and was double earlier rates of growth.

Our family may soon be getting rid of our landline in favor of utilizing our cell phones more frequently. Besides, we're the typical rush-rush suburban types who are often out of the house, making a landline nearly useless anyways.

Cellphone only.
I have a reg. phone plugged into our jack just for 911 service (since its free we don't have to pay for a landline)

Its cheaper that way. My internet will be going through pipeline

Cell phone only for me. It's cheaper, I get great reception all over the Valley, and I don't have to pay extra for long-distance calls. Besides even when I did have a landline, I rarely used it.

One cell (business mostly), two landlines (one personal, one business - rolls over to the cell)

My wife has two cells (one personal, one business), one landline (in common with my personal landline)

I think when we retire that will all change. Probably one cell each.

Talking Hello ~ Can you hear me now?

Emergency service 911 is best acquired with a landline when at home. Even if you can’t talk ~ they will find you. Even if the electrical power systems are down, the phone line is working and getting you to the 911 emergency center. The cell phone is good on for emergencies on the road, but not all 911 centers know where you are located with a cell phone.

We use the cell phone very little as it’s not healthy to be on the phone for long periods of time. I’ve got T-mobile ~ pay as you go and there is no monthly billing just 5cents a minute for the calls. We prepay for a 1000 minutes and we’re lucky to use it up in a year.

Cell phones are typically lousy for service as far as the audio quality.

Part of my problem is that I have to maintain a land line for my DSL connection...the prices for a cable modem here are insane...

I also have that unlimited long distance thing on my home phone so I can talk for hours on it...

My daughter and I both have cell phones, if not given the way my daughter talks on the phone, I would never get to use the phone.

We have 2 cells, one landline, and onstar and hands free phone in my car. I make sure that I can be reached any time, anywhere. We have a large family and they all call me when something happens. Mom and mamaw can always be reached
