I was wanting to see if anyone else was experiencing dropped calls with the iPhone on AT&T network. Me and my fiance both have iPhones and it is getting really bad dropping almost every call if we are on the phone for long enough. When we originally got the iPhone I never had dropped calls. AT&T says nothing is wrong so I wanted to see if other people are experiencing the same or similar problem.

I'm lucky to be able to talk two minutes on my iPhone 3G before it drops a call when I'm at my house here. It frequently takes two or more tries to even make a call. At other locations in the valley it behaves much better, though it still occasionally drops calls. At home in the SF Bay Area it's pretty much rock solid, so it is definitely much worse here.

I always have a prob with my I-phone 3G when it's ON the 3G. Just take it off of 3G unless you want to go online. I don't have any dropped calls when I do that. The reason I was told was Apple wasn't prepared for the mass of ppl using 3G and the system can't handle that many calls. Don't know if that's 100% true, but I only put my phone on 3G when I'm accessing the net.

It doesn't matter if you have a iphone ir a regular cell phone, calls drop all the time in and around Vegas depending where you live. I was told by the cell phone companies it's because there isn't enough cell towers. Whether that's true or not I'm not sure.

But it is something you learn to live with out here. Welcome to Vegas

In the NJ/NYC area - service is insanely bad. I got my BF the iPhone for Christmas last year and he just sold it on ebay because it's nothing more than a paperweight. On numerous occasions he hasn't been able to make phone calls in Madison Square Garden, Times Square and Jacob Javitz Center - we have a friend who lives near Westpoint and can't make calls inside his home, there are a lot of people in our area that are having problems with AT&T's service - their commercials about their coverage maps being as good or better than Verizons are total lies. I have the Razr and haven't had any problems until recently, no dropped calls but it took about 10 attempts to get a call to go through (network is busy) - not good when you have an emergency.
