A home inmprovement type company mailed me a card that said I'd get $500 in free gas or groceries just for letting them come out and give me an estimate. They tried on 2 occasions to get the card back. When the guy came out he took the card and gave me the certificate.

Now, that says to mail in $15 dollars to get on the program. The program requires you to shop at the same store, but the website doesn't say which stores you can choose from. And you also have to mail in the receipts each month and spend $100 dollars to get a $25 gift card for up to 20 months. And the receipts must be postmared before the month ends. (I'm exhausted already). And they also say on the WS, elmone.net, says that it takes 10-14 weeks to get the gift card each time. I do less paperwork and have less fine print in my business.

Needless to say I'm not optomistic that I'll ever get a dime out of it and they've sullied their reputation as a business by saying free $500 gift card. It is obvioulsy not. At most it's $485 and a lot of your time.

Has anyone participated in the program? Has it worked for you..? The P.O. box to mail in the $15 is in stuart and the home improvement business is local to the treasure coast. I'll be more than happy to name them if I can do so on here.

The whole thing looks like a sure way to get people to avoid doing business with you rather than the reverse. I know I wouldn't do that in my business no matter how hard times may be.

Disclaimer (they sure know what those are): I should also add that I'm doing a complete kitchen remod. So it's not like I wasn't in the market for their services and just had them come out to get a coupon.

Thanks

Update: I googled these gas and grocery rebate offers and they are a scam. Some people have even gone to small claims court as they actually purchased something because of them. I've neither purchased anything nor did I send any activation fee.

Needless to say, I won't be doing business with Coastal floors and granite.
