Posted this on other forums, but I am looking for an old fashioned radio for the family room...the kind our parents use to sit around and listen too. Either can sit on the floor if tall enought or will put on table top. Any box stores selling these things? If you can tell me stores and brand names and prices I'd appreciate it. I think I heard the word "cathedral" as a style???

While you may find replica radios today none of them will have to great warm sound of the old timer radios. It's all about the wood cabinet and the huge speaker these old radios had. Best to look for a rebuilt older radio or shop estate sales to fine one. Otherwise don't waste your money.........

This is a good source of radios that are either rebuilt or for sale to rebuild that are the real deal.

hat is because the old ones are tube radioes. Even many experts prefer vinyl and tubes these days.

Yes, humans hear in analog just like all the old tube sets/vinyl records produced. I've never known of a human with "electronic" hearing yet!
