Are there any alternatives to the Bose Wave Music System. This system seems overpriced and the sound quality is not as great as advertised. Someone recommended this system, but I'm not familiar with the brand:I-Sonic Entertainment System with HD Radio from Polk Audio

Polk is a long standing brand, others to consider are Klipsh, JBL, Boston Acoustics, etc... You should go to the electronics store and look at what they have.
Don't get Klipsch. I had those speakers hooked up to my computer and they died after two years. I replaced them with Bose. I also have Bose speakers on my TV and the sound is tremendous. So my theory, stick with Bose, 'cause you know you're getting the best.

Bose is well known for "non-accurate" sounding speakers, as they don't provide frequency response data like every other speaker manufacturer does. They basically pre-EQ everything and charge more due to marketing, as it costs more money to advertise and have Bose stores like they do. The Klispch you got are basic "cheap" computer speakers, so I wouldn't be surprised they didn't last that long. However, most movie theaters use Klipsch speakers (I believe over half of them in the US market).
