Now, I know memory foam mattresses and pillows have been debated on several threads, but during this trip we're taking right now, I've discovered something important.

I bought my pillow in Colorado Springs when we first moved there. I LOVE it... it has totally changed my sleep and saved me from UNTOLD amounts of neck pain. It is heavy and hard, but I can't sleep without it and travel with it.

During our last vacation, we traveled to places that had similar climates to CO... CA and AZ... meaning, very low humidity overall.

During this one, we're in IL... very high humidity.

The density of my pillow has changed. It is soft and mushy and is NOT working like it used to.

I did not expect this, but I suspect that the reasons some like it and some don't may have something to do with the climate they live in.

Just had to share!

Maybe it is just worn out?

How long have you had the pillow?

I personally think that foam pillows and beds are too hot. Some like it ;some don't.

Can you throw it in the dryer?

I've had the pillow for just under 2 years.

I doubt it suddenly wore out one night... wouldn't that be a process, rather than an overnight thing?

Its still a comfortable pillow, but it's just not hard anymore. We'll be home in a few days now and I'll post back if it changes.

I will not put it in the dryer... on the off chance that would ruin it completely.

It is the temperature of the room that causes those pillows to become harder or softer. The warmer it is, the softer they are.

This could be why after purchasing one of those pillows....I wasn't all that impressed and wondered what the fuss was all about. Maybe it didn't work as well since I live in such a humid area.

I'm the exact same way with my foam pillow! I've had it for ten years and it's as comfortable today as it was the day I got it. The foam pillow I had prior to the one I have now was over 25 years old...the poor thing was literally falling apart.

I cannot sleep unless I have MY pillow. I even take it on vacation with me...LOL
