Looking for a source of some decent bed linens... sheets, queen size. I want heavier ones. Most of the ones, in the sets in particular, seem either very thin or very rough texture. The very thin ones even though they are smooth texture (300ct). just seem to wear out very fast and tear. It seems like the cotton/polyester percale is what I want?
Years ago it seemed like I never had this problem. I just don't want to have to pay over a hundred dollars for a sheet set that is decent. But maybe that is what it is now.
I buy my sheets from Overstock.com. They have a good selection. I prefer 600TC. I find some really good deals on that site and I've been dealing with them for years. They are reputable and I've never had to contact customer service. I buy all kinds of things from them, including bookcases.
Bed linens are offered for sale through Amazon.com, and there are usually quite a few reviews from users under the product description on the amazon.com website. You might explore the user comments there to find sheets that buyers have been satisfied with. Once you find a product that consumers have described according to your tasts, you can search elsewhere for the best price.
I've gotten some really nice sheets at Marshalls...at great prices! And, do NOT bleach them...they will wear out in nothing flat! (I speak from experience!!!!)
Consumer Reports tested sheets last year and found that the vast vast majority of brands SHRINK after a couple washes, very annoying if you use fitted sheets. Their top-rated brand was LL Bean Percale sheets.
