O&G jobs and medical jobs are big in NW La. due to Haynesville Shale and aging population that drives the health industry. So if you want to be a pipeline or fraccer or work in healthcare, you're on the 50 yard line. Both are growing industries here. DFW has a lot of corporate HQ's, thriving hi tech and diverse industrial base.

What's the 2020 census armchair guesstimates? Any chance of grabbing Harrison county or parts of the Longview-Marshall CSA for the Shreveport MSA? Is that area too close to Dallas for Shreveport to have a chance?

Almost zilch. The vast majority of the Haynesville Shale pocket discoveries has been outside of the Shreveport city limits.

Outside city limits so not much (other than office space downtown). Also these pieces of land belong to private land owners.

When is Shreveport going to wake up and not depend on casinos. The city has a lot of potential but the powers that be are not very agressive about going after other businesses

Dallas is 2.5 hours west. That's the problem.

The same could said that Austin is about 3 hours from DFW or San Antonio is about 2.5 hours from Houston

That's Texas. Why would a business relocate to Shreveport when Dallas is right there, or Houston? It would understand your argument if I had used Little Rock or Monroe instead of Dallas.
It's not Dallas' fault but it doesn't help Shreveports situation have such a large and well off market being so close.
