Read an editorial in today's Shreveport Times Newspaper regarding recent stories about the differences between Shreveport & Bossier City. Anyone considering relocating here would be doing themselves a favor and read this short column as it pretty much nails it as far as the differences between Shreveport and Bossier City.

One big reason, especially for the sake of Bossier City, that the two cities should NEVER merge. Just too different in their lines of thinking.

It may be over for Shreveport, the city is in decay. It is so bad that they make big news out of a franchise restaurant opening in their city. A restaurant where most cities had for several years.

Back to the comments made in the editorial... I had to chuckle at this as it really nailed local politics in Shreveport:

The future of Shreveport, any city, is dependent on the quality of leadership. In the past, out of fear of a “black takeover,” the white voters voted color. This gave us Aunt Bea and Uncle Chester. Moderator cut: 1-2 sentences plus link [/u].

It's what happens when you elect people who treat political office as just another day at the office, a bureaucratic mindset built mostly on sycophancy and special-interests.
