Listen to the talks by both candidates:

Ollie Tyler - Full Interview

Victoria Provenza - Full Interview

Voters will have to make an informed decision - but to do so, is to understand the concepts and aims each candidate presents.

It will be important to know what can and cannot be done by the "NEW" Mayor as well as understanding what are they working with in terms of "Council Agenda and aims and its make up of members".

We do know that we suffered greatly under the past council with grand-standers, and other grid locking members who had and have limited concepts of what it takes to progress a city.

How do we get beyond the apathy which is somewhat expansive across the various city communities?
How do we get the young people to become interested in the outcome in future developments for the city?

YOUNG PEOPLE

How do we build a diverse coalition of young people to come together and develop and promote collective growth building, which includes things which concern and interest the the youth, from the age of 18-30's.
If we can get this age group mobilized with good backing and good leadership, we can find ways to transform a city to meet with what is the future.
Will we use our local colleges and university to engage their research capability to look at what our young people can do via these tools, to add to the betterment of developments within this city?

How Do We Move Forward

If as Ms. Provenza promotes Economic Development, then that must have a component which embraces the young people, their ideas and develop funding means to support their progressive aspirations.
Second, as with both Ms. Provenza and Ms. Tyler - can effective develop a "Fast Track" method to get project from the table to the active development of these things.

We have currently projects that have funding marked for various things, which never moved. Example: I'm sure many remember the mess with the YWCA, and the end commentary was to state that funds were approved for a community center in Ledbedder Heights, on the books for more than 12 yrs, and not one shovel of dirt has been moved to advance this project.

Kings Highway and Youree Intersections - has been on the books for more than a decade, yet no actions have been taken to make the improvements.

See the City Budget:

Take notice of the "Unfunded Items" - and ask, what is being done to move these items to a progressive level of funding? Are these items moved to the unfunded category to avoid making improvements, then ask, what improvements can be gained by funding these items.

How do we balance the quality of Public Services Across the City and its many communities?
This is a big question, it is an important questions, and it speaks to the integrity of the city as a whole.
It involves not only the maintenance services, but it speaks to the Property Standards segments of removing blight and enforcing property standards by the use of new tools and a pro-active council that understands the importance of new measures to promote community integrity and stability.

When you cast your vote - think in terms of "PERFORMANCE".
